Open Wheel Racing Tips and Tactics

If you’re searching for the inside track in Open Wheel Racing, look no further. Here are a few tips and winning strategies to keep in mind as you make your way around the San Andreas Prix.

The structural integrity of your vehicle plays a big factor in your performance. Bumping into other racers or objects can damage your vehicle’s chassis and spoilers; you’ll notice an immediate and significant difference in handling if either come flying off, especially at high speeds. Drive smart, drive safe and – if all else fails – pit stops are located near the start/finish line.

Choosing your wheels is an important aspect of Open Wheel Races.

Use KERS when exiting a corner to quickly get yourself back up to full speed - as demonstrated in the clip above by Olli399 on r/gtaonline

After completing the first lap of any race, your vehicle’s Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) kicks in. You can give your vehicle a quick boost by tapping the left thumbstick on console and the 'G' key on PC. If you notice your KERS bar is empty, you can refill it by braking around corners and/or letting go of the accelerator.
